Every student who walks through the corridors of the Department of Botany at University of Rajshahi carries with them seeds of knowledge that grow in different directions. One such inspiring journey is that of Shila Rani Kormoker, a proud alumna from the 2002–2003 session.
During her time at the department, Shila developed a deep appreciation for plants, nature, and the delicate balance of ecosystems. Like many Botany students, she spent countless hours in classrooms, laboratories, and the green spaces of the campus—learning not only scientific knowledge but also patience, curiosity, and respect for life.
After completing her studies, Shila chose a path that connects knowledge with society. Today, she serves as a Primary School Teacher in Thakurgaon, where she dedicates herself to nurturing young minds. In her classroom, education goes beyond textbooks. She encourages children to observe nature, understand their environment, and develop a love for learning from an early age.
Her journey reflects an important truth: the impact of botanical education is not limited to laboratories or research fields. It also grows in classrooms, communities, and the lives of children who will shape the future.
As the Department of Botany gathers for its alumni meet, Shila Rani Kormoker’s story reminds us that the roots planted at Rajshahi continue to flourish across the country—quietly contributing to education, awareness, and the spread of knowledge.
